I would have switched over to Server 2008R2 a while ago, but the backups, and DE, and some of the other features keeps me using it! Same error. Check This Out

The only way to check your theory is to clean install and not put any patches on the server. my results are the same as noted by KlausReplyDeleteKelvyn Taylor31 December 2010 at 12:16Hi Dave - sorry to hear the fix doesn't work. I get the error "Cannot mount the backup." I do not have any drives mapped. I attempted to do a WHS repair (reinstall) and the setup could not find the existing WHS installation. The problem discussed here only affects the ability to restore individual files and folders. So this does not look good really.

Try mounting the backup partition again via the WHS console and it should now work.

The backup image then automatically mounted as drive 'I', so I was able to copy files to the new system.ReplyDeleteAnonymous30 October 2011 at 07:53thank you! What is that? But, I get to 81% and get the same error that I now find all over the internet. The backup copy on the other PC is on an almost new drive. Now, what to put in it? I had a problem with an older version of Lights-Out which disappeared once I upgraded.

I was able to recover most of my data files by using WHS V1 file recovery. But before I click cancel (and rollback) I can run the connect sw no problems). So now connect wont install on this PC at all. Again that PC has 3 1.5TB drives. Several functions may not work. Many people have had this identical problem.

Edited by mernst, 16 November 2013 - 10:35 AM. There are multiple drive (3 at 1TB and 1 at 1.5TB) After the reinstall of WHS all are reporting as good. This won't delete data from any drive, it just removes the drive mapping. And boom the error occurs again.

I'll switch to FreeNAS or something where if it doesn't work, it's my fault. The old hard drive is clicking and unhealthy, but after a dozen tries, I get it to boot off the sick drive. Remove the hard drive from the computer and install a clean hard drive.
