I installed the 'missing' updates and everything works fine now. Also, when Acrobat 8 runs it's automatic updater, it gives me this error message: "Cannot overwrite file /Users/myuser/Documents/Updater5/AdobeUpdater/acrobat8pro-EFG/AUMProduct.dmg.
