I am guess it is time to look for a new drive. Just go to WMP Tools>Options>Rip Music and uncheck Rip CD automatically if it is checked. My question: is this a hardware problem or a software problem? Either a different drive in your computer or that drive in another computer should answer the question. Get yourself a quality commercial software product such as Roxio. And probably something that they'd be better of without!
